I have started digital photography back in 2006 with a Canon PowerShot S80. As I wanted to go a bit deeper into this topic, I got myself a Canon EOS 60D in 2010. First I started to upload my photos to Flickr and also to 500px. After a few years a few shots got selected by Getty Images. As no downloads came in after a year I quit. At the end of 2012 I decided to upload my images to agencies like Shutterstock, Fotolia and iStock to see what happens there.
Now, after a bit more than a year, I can say it worked better than expected. By now I have exactly 1000 downloads worldwide from my small Shutterstock portfolio with 115 photos where my most popular photo is the New York City Sky View with more than 600 downloads. I took this photo during a heli tour back in May 2012. This tour has already paid off by all the downloads of this single but absolutely unique and high quality photo.
I am looking forward to how this journey continues over the years and will try to keep you up to date from time to time also here. I will visit Italy two times the next few months and hope I am able to take a few good shots in Cinque Terre in early May and in Rome in early June, which will hopefully look good in my portfolios.
Right now I am doing this just in my rare freetime besides my studies in Information Technology at the Alpe-Adria University in Klagenfurt and my part-time work at Infineon Technologies in Villach, but anyway I really like to see a few downloads coming in day by day and to get a little feedback that some people can use my photos.
